Hi, I am Sonny Ravan, I am a lyricist and a music composer.

This story is about how I met my favorite actor, the living legend Mr AMITABH BACHCAN. I have been a fan all my life!

It happened in 2015 when the movie "Shamitabh" was about to release. I saw the trailer and fell in love with it! There was a dialogue in the trailer –

 

“Scotch mai paani wo, mixing, hai koi paani, jo chadhti hai whisky ke bina?

Paani needs whisky , whisky ko zarurat nahin kiski!”

 

What a fantastic dialogue! I had already memorized it. I was a Bachchan fan after all.

In my house, radio always plays in the background and one day, the radio caught my fancy. I raised the volume and sat right next to it.

An RJ was holding a contest around ‘Shamitabh’. She was asking people to call and mimic Mr Bachchan. The best mimic was to be called at the radio station and he would get to meet Mr Bachchan.

I called up the RJ immediately and mimicked my favorite actor. The already memorized trailer of Shamitabh came in handy. The RJ really liked my mimickery and I was called to the Radio Station the very next day.

Dressed to kill, I reached the Radio station before time. I was going to meet my favorite star, I had to look good.

To my disappointment, I got to know that I was invited ONLY to be a part of the same radio show and there I had to talk about my fascination for Mr Bachchan! The meeting with Mr Bachchan was to be scheduled much later.

The radio show happened and it was loved by every single member of my family and friends. A friend recorded it for me and I still have that recording!

I went home all happy and glee. I started waiting to be contacted by the radio station, but I got to know something very disheartening.

I got to know that Mr Bachchan was keeping very busy and he wouldn’t be able to meet anyone. After reaching so far, having such great plans to meet my star, this really shattered my heart!

There was nothing I could do. So I left this behind me. One day I got an e mail. Who do you think wrote to me? Come on, try and guess.

It was the one and only AMITABH BACHCHAN! He wanted to meet all the participants of that contest who mimicked him. All of us were invited to the J W Marriott in Juhu.

I was on Cloud 9. Finally I would be able to see him right in front of my eyes!

There are many things in the world I love along with Mr Bachchan, like making caricatures. I have been doing this for years and I had many caricatures of him.

For the unversed, a caricature is a picture of a person in which certain features are exaggerated to make the picture look funny.

So when I went to Marriot, I carried all these caricatures with me. In fact, out of all the fans, I was THE ONLY ONE to be carrying such stuff!

On one hand when this made me happy, what made me sad was, the fact that he was surrounded with his fans and to reach him seemed impossible.

There are a lot of fans who can walk up to their favorite celebrity, shake hands with him, keep a hand on their shoulder and can click a selfie with them. Sadly, I am not one of them. I get very conscious in front of the actors I like and Mr Bachchan was at a different level altogether!

I was standing behind all the fans, sort of hiding from him. He looked at me from the side, as if asking me to come in front and talk to him.

Mr Bachchan was getting pictures clicked with everyone. Meanwhile, a little something clicked inside me.

I took out all the caricatures of him that I was carrying. I muttered the courage to walk up to him and said

 

“Sir…ye sketches saare aapke hain…maine banaaye hain.  Please mere ek sketch pe autograph de dijiye ….”

To my delight, Mr Bachchan looked at each one of the caricatures and you know what? He laughed his heart out!

I remember Mr Bachchan laughing all the time as he stood next to me. He probably thought that I was demented for not walking up to him initially and then coming with all these caricatures.

I requested him to write – to Sonny and his loved ones with his signature on one of the caricatures and he graciously accepted my request!

With all the caricatures in my hand and smiles in my heart I stood a little away from him, still gazing at him.

It took me a minute to realize that his fans were also clicking selfies with him. I had already walked away and after all the sweetness he had showered on me, it would have been ridiculous to approach him again for a selfie.

That was my lucky day. Someone in the crowd had already done the honors!

 

Could it get any better for me?

Suddenly the fans around started pushing! It was Mr Bachchan after all, how could the crowd not get unruly?

Was this the end of my happiness? Was I to leave the hotel? I had just met my MAN, how could this end so soon?

 

“Ruko ruko…”  

 

I SCREAMED! It didn’t help. Somehow struggling my way through the crowd I managed to reach Mr Bachchan!

“Sir I HAVE to tell you how I reached this place! I have to give you a little demo of what brought me here….

 

Rishte mein toh hum tumhaare baap hote hain, naam hai Sonny Ravan…”

 

Mr Bachchan started laughing again and can you believe it, out of all the fans that were around him, HE HUGGED ME! Superstar Amitabh Bachchan stretched out his arms and wrapped them around me!

I went into a trance! I lost a sense of what was happening around me! I could see AMITABH BACHCHAN standing right in front of me and everything around him was blurred!

The crowd pushed me aside. My Amitabh Bachchan moment broke when I heard someone screaming –

 

“Baba wo tere ko gale mile…”

 

The fans gathered around and hugged me, as if I was the celebrity there.

Everyone went away to have snacks, while I stood there. I remember gazing at the sunset. It seemed like the golden red sun was gently smiling at me!
